Down On The Farm - Iron Pour

  • Down on the Farm 1421 200th Street Decorah, IA, 52101 United States (map)

“The Woodstock of Iron Pours”

Located in Decorah, Iowa, DOTF (Down on the Farm) is what I consider the “Woodstock” of all iron pours for its completely raw and creative community who shows up to jam out inside an art-making vortex over the course of 5 glorious summer days.

It’s an opportunity for literally anyone interested in learning more about metal casting- and casting iron in particular, to come to the farm farm along with over 50 professional iron artists from the Midwest and beyond and camp out, share meals, work in the sand studio together, get inspired by the variety of pieces being made, and learn from everyone’s experience and advice on how to make your ideas work for the pour on Saturday.

This is the place where so many of my earliest ideas came to life, and I know I’m not alone in saying that lifelong friendships, professional connections and invaluable lessons are forged there. it’s the place to experiment with radical freedom. It’s the place to take risks, get vulnerable, think big, deepen your practice, excel your confidence and get totally supported by a community of metal casters and creatives who show up to do exactly the same thing - right next to you.
